Automatic operation mode control method for television apparatus

The method involves switching a television apparatus automatically from the normal working condition into a stand-by mode. This takes place after a certain time interval in which no manipulations of the television were undertaken by the user. The television apparatus may be automatically switched from the stand-by condition into a shut-off mode after a second time interval, in which no further manipulations of the TV were undertaken. The shut-down may be preceded with a partial continuous decrease of the brightness and/or volume.
