A carriage for a portable sawmill, the carriage comprising spaced apart end frames (8), a carriage deck (17) that is adapted to support a saw for movement therealong, means (18) for connecting the carriage deck with uprights of the end frames and means (16) for adjustably supporting the carriage deck for upward and downward movement relative to the uprights, a separate supporting means (18) being associated with each end frame, each supporting means (18) being held in position on the respective end frame when the sawmill is disassembled for transportation.
