The sports shoe incorporates a collar piece (20) with a projecting end-piece (24) formed as a flexible tongue (25). The flexibility of the tongue is increased by two transverse slits (29) extending across most of the width of the tongue. There is a flexible padded lining made of front (26) and side (30) elements joined together (31) at their edges and projecting above the tongue and the side edges of the collar piece. The collar piece is held on by a strap around the back and there is a pivot (21) on either side at the lower end.
