<p>A lid edge safeguard (20) for cans is disclosed. The lid edge safeguard (2) is used with a can (5), which has a can body (10), a lid (12) integrated with the body at a seamed rim, a seal break line (12a) annularly formed on the lid (12) inside the seamed rim and a seal breaking lid opener (14) attached to the lid. The safeguard (20) has a circular flat part (21), which is attached to the top of the lid (12) using a bonding agent. The flat part (21) is provided with an opening for exposing the seal breaking lid opener (14), thereby allowing a user's finger to approach the opener outside the safeguard. A rim part (22) is integrated with the edge of the circular flat part (21) and covers the top of the seamed rim. A protective skirt part (23) integrally extends downward from the edge of the rim part (22) and covers the outside of the seamed rim, thus protecting the user's hand from a sharpened edge formed by the seal break line when the lid is removed.</p> |
