A composition for dyeing keratin fibres, particularly human hair, consisting of a medium suitable for use in dyeing and containing, as the coupler, at least one compound of formula (I), or an acid addition salt thereof, wherein R2 is particularly hydrogen, halogen, alkoxy, aryloxy, acetylamido, etc., and each of R1 and R3, which are the same or different, is particularly hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, a heterocyclic ring, etc., with the proviso that when R2 and R3 are both a hydrogen atom, then R1 is other than a hydrogen atom, a C1-5 alkyl radical or a phenyl radical, as well as at least one oxidation base, is disclosed.
