<p>A method for moulding an edge 5 on an outer surface of a plastic bottle 1 between a mouth portion 2 and a body portion 11 comprises injecting molten resin into a continuous cavity formed between a neck mould 21 and a cavity mould 22 and between cavity mould 22 and core mould 23 to for a preform 24 between cavity mould 22 and core mould 23 to form a preform 24 with a flange 27 shaped to include an edge 26. The preform 24 is then released from moulds 22, 23 but retained with mould 21 and transferred with mould 21 into a blow mould 28 which is closed over the neck mould 21 and preform 24. The portion of preform 24 below flange 27 is then blown against the interior of mould 28, with portion of preform 24 within mould 21 down to flange 27 prevented from being enlarged, such that the preform 24 is enlarged to merge with flange 27. The blow mould 28 is so shaped with respect to mould 21 as to alter edge 26 of flange 27 into an edge of bottle 1 to facilitate mounting of an ear to the bottle.
