The intake device of an internal combustion engine is capable of reducing the fuel expenses, while making the torque and performance upon racing or at a low speed interval never slightly deteriorated. The intake device where a cylinder having an intake port and a discharge port is formed and a cylinder block having a piston is adjoined to the cylinder to form a combustion chamber, comprises: a vortex generator(16) installed within the interior of the intake port(2) to thereby reduce an opening area of the intake port(2) at the moment where the engine is operated at a low speed; and an actuator(18) movable forwardly/backwardly in accordance with the negative pressure of the intake system of the engine to thereby supply the power to the vortex generator(16).
