PURPOSE:To perform measuring operation safely and accurately even by an unskilled measuring person, by making it possible to automatically perform the contact, measurement and retraction of an ultrasonic probe with respect to an eye to be examined. CONSTITUTION:The first measuring systems 3-11 provided at a predetermined distance from the cornea of an eye E to be examined to optically detect the first data (the refractivity of the cornea) of the eye to be examined and the second measuring systems 12-16 bringing a detection terminal 12 into contact with the cornea of the eye E to be examined to detect the second data (eye axial length) of the eye to be examined are mounted. The first drive means using the ultrasonic echo signal, which is generated when the leading end of the detection probe 12 is brought into contact with the cornea of the eye E to be examined, as a stop signal allows the detection terminal 12 to move from a predetermined retracted position to the eye to be examined when the measuring state of the first measuring systems is changed over to that of the second measuring systems. A tension spring 15 makes the contact force of the detection terminal 12 with the cornea almost constant. Further, the second drive means 9, 16 move the terminal 12 from the measuring position to the predetermined retracted position. |
