PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new recombinant gene capable of effectively producing a foreign useful protein in a plant and forming a pathogenic bacteria resistant plant by joining a foreign gene with a plant gene mediated by a hinge region of tobacco chitinase. SOLUTION: This new recombinant gene is obtained by joining a foreign gene with a plant gene mediated by a hinge region of tobacco chitinase, and by introducing an expression cassette prepared by using a gene encoding sarcotoxin as an antibacterial peptide and as a foreign gene and joining with a tobacco PRla gene as a plant gene mediated by a hinge region of a tobacco chitinase into a plant to produce a foreign useful protein effectively in the plat, the plant having a resistance to pathogenic bacteria can be formed.
