PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized and light-weight individual identification device capable of realizing a stable operation at a high recognition rate. SOLUTION: This individual identification device is provided with a polygonal prism 16 to which a luminous flux from an illumination light source 15 is made incident, a measurement head part provided with an image input device capable of image-observing the first surface 17 of the inner surfaces of the prism 16, an image processing part 25 for binarizing inputted images and converting them to intrinsic codes and a comparator for comparing the intrinsic code registered beforehand with the output of the image processing part 25. Then, the feature of the shape of the auricle 20 for instance of a measured person is optically measured in electric contact, image-processed and compared with the intrinsic code and whether or not the measured person is the individual is specified. |
