PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the easy separation of a film by forming on one side of a thermoplastic film a self-adhesive layer having a specified thickness and a glass transition temperature, the value of which is specified, under the condition that the relationship between the thickness and the glass transition temperature to the contact angle of a distilled water drop to the coating film applied on a coated metal plate represented by the inequality is satisfied. SOLUTION: This film or sheet for protecting the surface of a coated metal plate has a self-adhesive layer at least on one side of a thermoplastic resin film or sheet. The thickness Y inμm of the self-adhesive layer is 3-30μm and its glass transition temperature Z in deg.C is -30 to 30 deg.C. If the thickness is below 3μm, insufficient viscosity results. If the thickness exceeds 30μm, hard separation results. If the glass transition temperature is below -30 deg.C, a too soft self-adhesive results. If the glass transition transition temperature exceeds 30 deg.C, the viscosity of the self-adhesive lowers. The thickness Y of the self-adhesive layer, its glass transition temperature Z and the contact angle X in degree of a distilled water drop to the coating film applied on the coated metal plate are set to satisfy the relationship of the inequality.
