<p>A method for preparing an olefin homopolymerization and copolymerization catalyst by at least partially reducing at least one tetravalent titanium compound, wherein: firstly, at least one alpha , omega -dihalogenoalkane of general formula X-(CH2)n-X<1>, wherein X and X<1>, which are the same or different, are halogen atoms and n is equal to or greater than 2, are contacted with a tetravalent titanium compound and aluminium until said aluminium completely disappears; and secondly, an organomagnesium derivative is added to the solution thereby obtained in an amount sufficient for the molar ratio of Mg/Ti to be of at least 1. The catalyst thereby obtained may be used together with an activator in an olefin polymerization method, and particularly in an ethylene (co)polymerization method.</p> |
