PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain 1,3-dichloroacetone useful as a synthetic intermediate in higher selectivity than that in the conventional processes from inexpensive raw materials under mild conditions. SOLUTION: In the presence of (A) palladium and/or a palladium compound, for example, palladium (II) dichlorobis(benzonitrile), (B) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of manganese, lead and copper compounds, for example, manganese (II) acetylactonate dihydrate and (C) an iodine compound, for example, ethylammonium iodide, acetone and/or monochloroacetone is allowed to react with a chloride, for example, lithium chloride and oxygen to give 1,3-dichloroacetone. |
