PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop an efficient purifying means for industrial waste water discharged out of factories. SOLUTION: In treatment of waste water containing formic acid and aldehydes, wet and non-catalytic oxidation treatment of organic substance- containing waste water is carried out under pressure at which the waste water is kept in the liquid phase in the presence of an oxygen-containing gas and after that using ruthenium, palladium, rhodium, or platinum as a catalyst, heating treatment is carried out either in the absence of an oxygen-containing gas or in the presence of the gas. |
