During the automatic fitment of components to printed-circuit boards, it is intended to be possible to feed a fitment head with a plurality of components which are geometrically similar but are electrically different. To this end, at least two transportation devices are provided which are arranged at a distance from one another on an endless drive, remove the components from feed devices (Zf1, Zf2, Zf3) corresponding to the pick-up positions, transport them to a handover position and hand them over to a fitment head at this handover position. The distances between the transportation devices, which are preferably formed by grippers (G1, G2, G3) shaped like pliers, are selected in such a manner that each pick-up position and each handover position can be moved through by any transportation device, independently of one another, in a program-controlled manner.
