PURPOSE:To contrive higher printing speed and higher printing accuracy at the time of automatical printing of document data by providing a printing head for printing on a printing paper set on a platen when a carriage is stopped after being moved, and an elastic body which supports a main frame and has specified elastic characteristics. CONSTITUTION:For elsatically supporting a main frame 2, cushion rubbers 36 (elastic bodies) are adhered to parts near the left and right edges, respectively, of a rear end part of a lower surface of the frame 2. Elastic characteristics of the cushion rubbers 36 are so set that the vibrational displacement of a platen coincides substantially with that of a carriage 22, for a very short time of about 30 msec from time t1 to time t2. Therefore, a printing head 27a can be set into a printing operation by driving a solenoid 28 during the period from time t1 (about 15 msec after time t0) to time t2, and a printing timing can be extremely advanced. When the printing operation is set immediately after time t1, a movement of the carriage 22 can be started immediately after the printing operation, so that the printing timing at each printing position can be markedly advanced. |
