PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce boat tail resistance by forming a section of an afterburner into a shape changed to a rectangular section smoothly toward a discharge nozzle from a circular shape in a turbine side. SOLUTION: In a jet engine, air introduced by a fan 1 is compressed by a compressor 2, to be mixed with fuel in combustion by a combustor 3, combustion gas of high temperature is generated, a turbine 4 is rotated by this exhaust gas, the fan 1 and the compressor 2 are driven. An afterburner 5 is provided in the downstream of the turbine 4, fuel is burned, a temperature of the exhaust gas is increased, a speed of a jet flow from a two-dimensional exhaust nozzle 7 is increased. The afterburner 5 is provided in a range of a', to be smoothly changed in this range from a circular section to a rectangular section. When a shape change as slow, boat tail angleθis decreased, boat tail resistance of an airframe mounting the engine can be reduced, generation of a pressure loss due to a secondary flow of vortex or the like in a flow path can be also reduced.
