PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an apoptosis inducing agent composed of an extract of SIKON (root of Lithospermum erythrorhizon), having apoptosis inducing effects, capable of controlling a cell cycle and excellent in cell-activating effects such as the stimulation of the metabolism of the skin when applied on the skin as a cosmetic or an external preparation. SOLUTION: The agent consists of an extract of SIKON obtained by extracting dried roots of Lithospermum erythrorhizon Siebold et Zuccarini-(Boraginaceae) or its relative plant with an organic solvent and/or water. A cosmetic such as a cream, a skin lotion or a milky lotion can be prepared by using the extract. |
