PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hygroscopic sheath-core type conjugate fiber excellent in hygroscopicity and light-resistant fastness and improved in a moisture- releasing speed, to obtain a blended yarn containing the fibers, and further to obtain a fabric having a refreshing touch and a dry touch. SOLUTION: This sheath-core type conjugate fiber has a core component area: sheath component area ratio of (25:75) to (60:40) in the cross section of the fiber and contains a hygroscopic polymer in the core component. Therein, a thermoplastic polymer having a hydroscopicity of 8-12% in an atmosphere of 20 deg.C×90%RH is contained in the core component, and a polyester containing UV light-shielding particles in an amount of 1.0-10.0wt.% based on the weight of the polymer composing the sheath component is contained in the sheath component. The surface of the sheath-core type conjugate fiber is roughened by an alkali weight-reducing method. Thus, the hygroscopicity of the conjugate fiber can be improved. |
