PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink layer containing a blue dye satisfying quality characteristics on a support by providing an ink layer containing a monoazo compd. represented by a specific formula on the support. SOLUTION: In formula I, R is a substituted or non-substituted alkyl group and Ar is a 1-4C alkylene group. Cuprous cyanide is added to a compd. represented by formula II in addition to dimethylformamide under stirring to precipitate a crystal which is, in turn, filtered off, washed with water and dried to obtain a monoazo compd. An ink compsn. containing this monoazo compd. is applied to a polyethylene terephthalate film to be dried to obtain a thermal transfer sheet capable of forming an extremely sharp blue image excellent in gradation properties and high in color density. |
