PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form fleece wherein a fiber material and a phenol resin binder are homogenously mixed and to produce a bulky mat of good quality. SOLUTION: In producing a fiber molded object by bonding a fiber material by a phenol resin binder and curing the bonded fiber material, the powdery phenol resin binder to which 0.1-5wt.% of one or more kind of a coarse granular lubricant with an average particle size of 3-7μm selected from calcium carbonate, metal stearate and talc is added is mixed with the fiber material in an amt. of 5-40wt.% and fleece is formed from the resulting mixture by an opening mixer and needled or heated if necessary to weld the binder to fibers to produce a bulky mat which is, in turn, molded into a predetermined shape by press molding. By this constitution, a molding material having no problem in handling properties and productivity at a time of the production of the bulky mat can be provided and, further, by molding the molding material into a predetermined shape to produce a fiber molded object, the fiber molded object high in strength and stability can be obtained.
