PURPOSE:To automatically simulate even the form of sound generation and to enable performance like a natural musical instrument by simulating a portamento similar to that when the natural musical instrument having selected timbre is played corresponding to the selected timbre at the time of sound generation. CONSTITUTION:When one key of a keyboard is turned ON, the key code of the operated key is inputted to a key code register KCD. An assignment code which is currently specified is judged from the contents of the assignment code registers AM. A normal mode, a violin mode, a brass mode, and a guitar mode are discriminated by AMs 0-3. According to the contents of the assignment mode registers AM, sound generation routines (n12-n15) in corresponding assignment modes are executed. The normal mode is a mode wherein random assignment is performed and a musical sound corresponding to key-ON operation is assigned by searching for a free channel. Consequently, a musical sound signal in format corresponding to plural kinds of timbre can be generated. |
