PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of part items of an automotive seat usable for both adults and children by simplifying its structure, the seat having a center cushion that is separated therefrom so that its height can be varied. SOLUTION: A recess 10a is formed in the top surface of the center the rear half of a seat cushion 10, and a flexible support belt 20 attached to the frame of the seat cushion at both ends is provided in such a way that it is convertible between two states within the recess, i.e., a tense state in which it is stretched almost parallel to the bottom surface 10a of the recess and a slack state in which it hangs down freely. A center cushion 28 constructed of a flexible pad covered with a cushion cover can be inserted into the recess, with the thickness of the cushion being almost equal to the depth of the recess and with substantially no gap between them. The center cushion, if inserted with the support belt tensed, is converted to a configuration for use by children in which it projects from the seat cushion and, if inserted with the belt slackened, converts to a configuration for use by adults in which it does not project from the seat cushion. |
