The roof opening drive uses a winch (1). The lever arm (4) reduces the effort exerted at the level of the winch crank. The drive can have a detent (10) to allow all movement for opening and closing of the roof, to release the crank handle. The lock (5) can be put into operation by the same person who operates the winch. The chain (2) can be unhooked if one requires to lift a single roof cover. With two covers (3,4) open it is possible to allow lowering of a single cover.
