Heat exchanger for immersion heater

The heat exchanger has a once-through closed container (1) and electrical contacts (4), a tubular heat exchanger element (16) and a fluid flowing past its outer surface. The element is at least partially surrounded by a concentric tube (8), the fluid flowing in the annular gap (9) between the tube and the element. At the downflow end of the tube there is a chamber (11) formed between the tube and the wall of the container where there are elements that form stagnation points. These increase the flow resistance for the fluid so that the fluid pressure is higher at the inlet side (2) than at the outlet side (3). The stagnation elements also support the tube relative to the container.
