Currents generated due to a potential difference between a liquid (2), e.g. water, and a tank (1) containing it are diverted by at least one device (5) in the tank wall (3), preferably comprising at least one electrode (4). The tank is preferably a cement-bonded, particularly concrete structure with steel reinforcement (6) and the electrode, which extends into the interior of the tank or is flush with the inside face, is connected to the reinforcement. The tank may be lined with cement-bonded material and/or plastic (9), in two layers. The diverter preferably is sheathed in glass or porcelain.
