Hair dye containing 1,4-diaminobenzene and/or 1-methyl-2,5-diaminobenzene or their water soluble salts as developers - contain 2-amino-4-chlorophenol as coupler, optionally in combination with other couplers.The use of 2-amino-4-chlorophenol in hair dyes containing the above developers, in order to obtain brown coloured hair, is also claimed.
