Process and assembly to convert offensive organic waste into a benign soil enhancing product for disposal, comprises: (a) a multi-stage process in which the main ingredients are supplemented by inert, inorganic or organic substrates (with suitably acidic pH) and further product-enhancing components; (b) the inert inorganic or organic material substrate material is kieselguhr or a kieselguhr by-product, or a ground or molten mineral; and (c) the liquid substrate used is slurry, sludge, foul sludge, animal carcass residues, residues from fish and crustacea, and other food industry residues. The process comprises: (d) transferring the liquid substrate to a dosing station with substrate; (e) mixing and fixing to substrate; (f) conditioning with additives and de-watering; and (g) sub-division of product into product batches.
