The invention concerns a drainage system with a filtration plant (2) and/or a main outfall (1), a network of drains feeding towards the filtration plant and/or main outfall, at least one device (5n) in the network of drains for controlling the rate of flow by changing the height of an overflow, at least one device (6n, 7n) for measuring the filtration level of the waste downstream and/or upstream of the flowrate-control device (5n) and, connected to the flowrate-control device and the level-measurement device, a control unit which adjusts the overflow height as a function of the level measured downstream and/or upstream of the flowrate-control device (5n).
