<p>2-Chloro-5-nitrobenzoic acid and various other chloro and nitro substitute benzoic acid derivatives are disclosed for administration in tablet or injectable solution form for treatment of HIV infection. The active compounds have surprising efficacy in various treatment regimes and have particular application to effect regression of lesions in HIV-related Kaposi's sarcoma. The compounds act as costimulators of CD3-triggered T-lymphocyte proliferation to increase the immunological challenge to the retrovirus presented by the natural immune system.</p> |
