The screen has vertically movable slats extending over the width of the opening whereby support means support at least the lowermost slat in the retracted state, preferably by a horizontal arm (36). The arm can swivel in a vertical rotary bearing (40) of a support device fixed near the upper edge of the opening. The rotary bearing can be designed so that it can carry out a rise and fall movement of the arm. The support device can have a vertical first sleeve (40) containing a rotary mounted second sleeve (43) whose upper sleeve end has an inner thread (45) for a threaded spindle (46).
