The equipment has a plate-type housing (1) with an observation window (6) at the front, behind which is a shaft-type compartment (5) accommodating one or more data sheets. A marking device at the front includes a transverse slide (11) travelling parallel to one side of the window, and on which a cross-slide (13) is mounted. The transverse slide has a slide-shoe (14) at one end only, and which is positively accommodated in a guide along the side of the compartment. From this shoe a straight-edge (12) protrudes, being free at the other end. The transverse slide and the guide can each have two components (15,16,17,19) engaging together, and which are spaced apart in the side-ways direction for less than the shoe dimension at right angles to this direction.
