The invention relates to a tampon (10) with a printing body (14) consisting of a resilient material for direct printing of articles in a tampon printing machine. The printing-body (14) surface region provided for transferring the printing ink is provided with a coating (16) consisting of a softer material than the core material of the printing body. Consequently, the printing quality is substantially improved.
