<p>Swirl is imparted to an air intake charge by a gas swirling device which may be inserted into an air intake hose or secured to a throttle body. The gas swirling device has a cylindrical body or housing (12) which is split along a generally longitudinally extending seam to allow the device to adjust its radial dimension. The device is formed from a single piece of bendable material and includes a plurality of swirling vanes (22) which are formed integral with the cylindrical body and which are bent radially inwardly toward the central axis of the cylinder (12). In an embodiment for axial air flow, each of the vanes (22) is skewed relative to the axis of the cylinder (12) for changing the direction of air flow through the cylinder (12) and to encourage swirl in the air flow.</p> |
