PURPOSE:To quicken the enter transmission speed of a packet by recognizing destination information including in an optical header depending on from which optical correlation device a correlation output is obtained through the input of the optical header comprising a received optical pattern to all of plural optical correlation devices. CONSTITUTION:The header comprising the optical pattern of an incoming optical packet 31 of an optical area is distributed to an optical correlation device 33 by an optical distributer 32 to attain optical correlation. The optical correlation devices 33 are prepared by a number of code patterns of the header to take the correlation with an input pattern and when the patterns are coincident, one of the optical correlation devices 33 has a large peak to identify the header pattern. Based on the result, a path discrimination circuit 35 generates a control signal so as to set the path of the optical switch 36. Thus, the entire header represents one kind of information and since one processing is enough for the entire header as to processings of the circuits after a photoelectric converter 34, the processing is saved. Thus, the transmission speed of the entire packet is quickened. |
