A truck tire having an improved precured tread and its method of manufacturing

Precured tread (10) is moulded to an unvulcanised tyre casing (100) by placing both inside a smooth mould, inserting an inflatable bladder (80) inside the casing before closing the mould, inflating the bladder to expand the casing firmly into contact with the tread and to expand the tread so that it engages the smooth mould and forms an air-tight seal at an annular projection (60) radially above the intersection of each side of the inner tread surface with opposite tread edges, and applying heat and pressure to the mould to cause a uniform flow of casing material radial outwards along the tread edges to the annular projections.
