A housing (1) contains a support (5) for the tow of loaves (3), and leads to a dispensing opening at the front and which can be shut by a door if desired. A thruster (9) moved by a hand control at the front acts against the rearmost loaf in the row, moving them all towards the opening. This acts in one direction only and until the thruster has reached a position in which there is no effective supporting surface in front of it. From this position the thruster can be moved rearwards by pressing loaves successively towards it, so as to form the next row.
