PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a black-coloring composition which contains a specific black pigment, a dispersant and an organic solvent, shows excellent coloring properties and high adhesion, can be stably stored for a long period of time and is useful in black paint or black printing ink. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) a black inorganic pigment of an oxide of a metal selected from the group consisting of metals in groups 4-11 and in the fourth period having an average particle size of <=0.5μm, (B) a dispersant selected from a polyvinyl butyral resin having a chemical structure of formula I (x is 0.01-0.9; y is <=0.05; n is an integer), a polyacrylic resin of a structure of formula II [R<2> is a (substituted) aliphatic hydrocarbon group, a (substituted) aromatic hydrocarbon group; R<1> and R<3> are each H or R<2> ; a is 0-0.9; n is an integer] and a compound of the formula: R<4> -COOH [R<4> is a >=12C (substituted) aliphatic hydrocarbon group] and (C) an organic solvent, when necessary, (D) a metal alkoxide or its hydrolyzate.
