PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire saw capable of detecting the state of a wire and main rollers in detail and quickly detecting cutoff of the wire. SOLUTION: A wire between main rollers 11 to 13 is divided into a plurality of blocks, and tension of the wire is detected for each block. Even if the wire is cut, cutoff the wire can be quickly detected. Damages to the main rollers 11 to 13 can be prevented by constituting the wire saw so that the wire saw may be automatically stopped when cutoff of the wire is judged by controllers C, and the poor machining of a workpiece is decreased and the yield can be improved since the machining operation is not continued as it is. |
