PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a newβ-C azanucleoside derivative having an excellent glucosidase-inhibiting activity and useful as a medicine. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I (Het is thienyl, furyl, pyrrolyl, benzofuryl, benzothienyl, indolyl, pyridyl, purinyl). For example, 2-(β-D- azaribofuranosyl)thiophene. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula III (R is t-butyldimethylsilyl) with sodium cyanoborohydride of the formula: NaBH3 CN and ammonium formate and subsequently reacting the obtained compound of formula III with trifluoroacetic acid.
