PROCESS FOR TREATING PLASTIC WASTE AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process and an apparatus by which plastic wastes such as plasticized polyvinyl chloride can be converted into a high-quality chlorine- free oil without forming organochlorine compounds and in which the apparatus can be easily protected from being corroded. SOLUTION: This process comprises a heat decomposition step of heating plastic wastes containing halogenated polymers (e.g. plasticized polyvinyl chloride) under conditions including an autogenous pressure and a controlled temperature and separating the product of decomposition of the plasticizer to release gases (e.g. hydrogen chloride) and the oil conversion step of dry-distilling and heat-decomposing the residues from the heat decomposition step to form and recover an oil.
