<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate cooking deficiency due to excessive cooking of a food and prevent a heater from being driven for an unnecessary long period by driving a magnetron and the heater only for a maximum allowable time in the case where a weight of the food is lower than a minimum weight. SOLUTION: With a power source of a microwave oven turned on, a user puts a predetermined quantity of food into a cooking chamber and selects a desired cooking type. When a cooking operation is started by inputting a cooking start command, a weight WFOOD of the food is detected. A shaft 43 pushes a weight detector 45 by force as large as about the weight WFOOD of the food placed on a tray 12, thereby calculating the weight WFOOD of the food by comparing a waveform detected in a state in which no food is placed with an output waveform detected in a state in which the food is placed. Subsequently, the detected weight WFOOD of the food is compared with a preset minimum weight WMIN. If the weight WFOOD of the food is smaller than the minimum weight WMIN, a maximum allowable time TMAX when a magnetron is driven is set. Consequently, the magnetron V6 and a heater 20 are driven only for the time TMAX.</p> |
