PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the grinding device of a nonround body capable of suppressing the increase of frictional resistance at the time of grinding and preventing the decline of work quality. SOLUTION: Based on the cutting amountΔH of a grindstone 12 to an object Ha to be worked, the contact length Li of the grindstone 12 to the object Ha to be worked is calculated for each unit rotation angle of a main shaft 4. Then, the rotation angle of the main shaft 4 is set for each unit rotation angle of the main shaft 4 so as to be changed corresponding to the value of the calculated contact length Li. Also, a main shaft rotation speed is appropriately set in a range not exceeding the ability of a motor 10 for moving the grindstone so as to follow up the rotation of the main shaft 4. At the time of the grinding, the motor 5 for the main shaft is rotation-controlled based on the set main shaft rotation speed.
