PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably obtain dimethylamine and monomethylamine while suppressing reduction in catalytic performances and subduing formation of trimthylamine even in a case in which a methanol admixed with formaldehyde, etc., is used as a raw material. SOLUTION: Mathanol is reacted with ammonia in the presence of hydrogen and a zeolite selected from the group consisting of clinoptilolite and mordenite and silylated by a silylating agent in a liquid phase. Preferably unreacted methanol recovered from the reaction mixture is used as a part of methanol. In the reaction, the content of formaldehyde is <=2,000ppm based on methanol by weight ratio. |
