PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an appropriate image display gradation without repeatedly performing a complicated adjustment operation by providing a means for storing a set gradation and the means for reading the stored gradation and reproducing the setting of the gradation in an operation device. SOLUTION: A window level adjuster 21 and a window width adjuster 22 are provided with an encoder with a switch for which a rotary encoder and a push-pull switch are integrated and a rotation operation and a pull operation are respectively independently performed. In this case, a function for storing a display gradation parameter in use at present is allocated to a push operation and the function for reproducing the stored display gradation parameter is allocated to the push operation. Then, in the case that the tentative change of a display gradation is required, the parameter of the display gradation is stored by the push operation of a gradation operation device, the gradation is changed, images are observed and then, the display gradation before the change is returned by the pull operation of the gradation operation device. Also, aγcharacteristics switch device 23 switches theγcharacteristics of display images.
