PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production cost competitive differential gear device having a viscous coupling. SOLUTION: A differential gear case 1 in a differential gear device 100 has a bowl-like case body 2 and a flange-coupled cover body 3 to close the opening of the case body 2. A retainer 20 having an engaging support part 21 for relatively unturnably engaging with an outer plate 26, and a flange part 22 pinchingly fixed to the flange coupling part of the case body 2 and the cover body 3 engages in the rotation direction outer plate 26 with the differential gear case 1.
