PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricating oil for metal rolling containing a specific aliphatic cyclic polycarboxylic acid ester, excellent in stability to hydrolysis, giving scarce effect on metal especially suitable for using as an emulsion with water. SOLUTION: The lubricating oil contains, preferably, at least 10wt.% of the aliphatic cyclic polycarboxylic acid esters expressed in the formula (A is cyclohexane ring, cyclohexene ring; R<1> is H or methyl; X is H, COOR<4> ; Y is H, COOR<5> ; R<2> -R<5> are each a 3-18C branched alkyl, a 3-10C cycloaklyl, a 1-18C linear chain alkyl, etc.). The preferable acid components composing the ester are 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid, 4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylic acid, etc. The preferable alcohol composing the ester is diisobutanol, cyclohexanol, etc. The concomitant use of branched alkyl ester and/or cycloalkylester is preferred when using a linear chain alkyl ester as the ester of the formula. |
