PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect an existing telephone network terminal equipment connected to an existing telephone network and uses a telephone number of a numbering system of the network for connection control to an ATM network without any revision and to use the existing telephone network terminal equipment in the ATM network. SOLUTION: An ATM network 10 is provided with a server that manages a telephone number of an existing telephone network terminal equipment connected to the ATM network 10 in the existing telephone network and manages an ATM address in the ATM network 10 corresponding to the telephone number. Each existing telephone network terminal equipment accesses to the server at application of power to register an ATM address corresponding to its own telephone number. In the case that an application execution section 260 of the existing telephone network terminal equipment uses the telephone number of the existing telephone network to make connection control, an ATM adaptor section 210 interfacing the ATM network 10 accesses the server to inquire about the ATM address corresponding to the telephone number. The connection in the ATM network 10 is conducted based on the ATM address to be inquired about.
