<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the control of a tape which is recorded with a track pitch longer than the head level difference of a pair of heads, to the optimum tracking phase by controlling the tape feeding phase so that a pilot signal detected value coincides with the command value for setting the target value. SOLUTION: The pilot signal f1 is recorded by the reproducing head 70b provided with a head gap of R azimuth, and the pilot PL signal obtained from the track 60c having the same azimuth is used. A reproduced signal is supplied to an error detecting circuit 16 through a PL signal detecting means 18, and the difference between the output of the detecting means 18 and the command value from a setting means 15 is calculated in the circuit 16. The obtained error signal is transmitted to a capstan controller 5, and the generated torque of a capstan 3 is controlled so that the input signal becomes zero. Then, the phase of tape is controlled so that the level of the detected PL signal f1 coincides with the command value of the setting means 15.</p> |
