PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely monitor a recovery boiler char bed, with a temperature measurement value at an optical fiber installing position on an imaging surface of reflected light and a brightness value of a corresponding position of a char bed image as reference values, by dividing the same incident light in an optical manner. SOLUTION: A division filter 41 is provided between an imaging lens 29 of an incident lens system 20 and an imaging surface 33, and an end surface of an optical fiber is held at an imaging surface 42 of incident light. The incident light from the optical fiber 43 is made incident on a division filter 44, and, based an the intensity ratio of two wave length, wavelengthλ1 of the reflected light and wavelengthλ2 of the transmitted light, temperature is calculated with a temperature converter 51. Meanwhile, the obtained char bed image is corrected with a shading correcting image. Then, by utilizing the temperature and the brightness value on a shading correcting char bed image corresponding to the photodetecting area, the brightness information of the other char bed area is converted into temperature.
